Yellow Happiness

Would you like to take part in a little Yellow Blog Hop?
Hope so!
Here's the list of blogs we're visiting today
Leonie (that's where you are now) ;)

 and the theme is
Yellow :)
Kind of appropriate in my part of the world
as tomorrow is the first day of spring so lets hope there's nothing but yellow sunshiny
skies ahead.

Some Yellow trivia for you (most of which you probably know).
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, contains half of all the world’s known geothermal features.
...........................

What's your favourite Yellow song?

I chose one of mine and created a layout using the lyrics.

Hope all the yellow has brightened your day in some way,
hop over to the other blogs
and take a look at some more Yellow happiness. :)

Bird is the Word - Peace

This is the first time i've participated in a Bird is the Word Challenge.
The Word is 'Peace' so I used the quote below and some instagram
pictures of a sunrise I took in July this year.

I painted my own sunrise on the Kraft base with acrylic paints.
I used this flourish from 2Crafty Chipboard, painting it white first and
then using paint daubers for a mottled affect.

I cut some pieces out of the flourish because they were obscuring my photo's
and I used the same technique but with blue colours and added them to my clouds.

Here's a last close-up showing some sparkle I added by brushing Ranger stickles over the background.
and some sequins, I've been adding sequins to quite a few layouts recently, such an inexpensive and easy way to add some sparkle.

thanks for popping by, cheers. :)

sharing my 2Crafty creations

Just posting two layouts which I created for the 2crafty blog earlier this month using their fab chipboard.
You may have already seen these layouts on the 2crafty blog or one their facebook page
but for those of you that haven't here they are. :)

I used one of the CORNER WISPY FLOWERS, painting it with black Gesso
and then a coat of white paint. Once dry I sanded the edges so the black showed
through just a little.

I also used the FAMILY FRAME chipboard piece.
For the 'family' part of the frame I used the same technique as the flower.
On the actual frame I wanted to add different colours to tie in with the quote and colourful background of my layout, so to begin with I gave it a coat of Clear Rock Candy Distress Paint.
Once dry I dabbed different coloured Distress Stains over the frame. The stain seeps through the cracks in the Rock Candy down on to the chipboard creating a sort of stained glass effect.
Pretty cool technique, thanks Tim. :)

And the second layout.

I used two of these STARS, painted with yellow acrylic paint and outlined in black with a
sharpie, I then layered them
on top of each other to create the Sun.

How cute are these RETRO TREES?
I painted them, stamped on them with texture stamps,
added some doodling and then a coat of Glossy Accents.
The random squares of chipboard around the border are the 'positives' from
one of the BORDERS FOREVER 12x12 chipboard sheets, I never throw
anything out, you can always find some alternative use for it.

Head over to the 2crafty Blog and check out our other DT members work some seriously inspiring
scrapbooking and chipboard designs.

Cheers and thanks so much for popping by. :)

August 123 Challenge.

This is my layout for the August 123 Challenge
which is-
Green, Texture Paste, and the word 'watch' or 'watching'.
I used the texture paste over a Tim Holtz cogs and gears mask.
and then added some 2Crafty gears as well to tie in with
the whole bicycle/wheel theme.

And a layout of one of my boys.
He's such a tender caring soul. And quite self conscious,
I used a song title by Everything But The Girl to try
and console him but unfortunately he cried when he saw the layout. :(
Not the effect I was after but...

this layout is for a challenge at Scrapbook Savvy.
Cheers, thanks for looking. :)

Scrap the Boys- August

Augusts' challenge at scrap the boys is to use your
childs' artwork on a page.

I've used a Self-Portrait by one of my boys.
I think he did a pretty good job, can you see a likeness. :)
It's actually on a 12x14 sheet of paper so I wasn't sure at first
how I was going to incorporate it onto the page, especially considering it was larger
than my page!!!
I didn't want to cut it up so instead I stuck it down over about 2/3 of my white cardstock and then on the other 1/3 I used paint and stencils to continue the colour and basic design my son had used on the background of his self-portrait.
I then folded the excess part of the painting behind the 12x12 cardstock.
Here's a picture of the layout with the painting completely unfolded.

And a close-up showing the seam where the two edges meet.

thanks for looking. :)

creative scrappers sketch #219

 Creative Scrappers Sketch #219
There were lots of circles on this sketch so I used some 2Crafty chipboard circles
and these funky circle flowers
I inked them in different colours and then added a coat of distress stickles for some sparkle. :)

And this one is for a colour challenge at Scrapbooking from scratch.
Blue, Yellow, Red, Kraft.
this MME range from a kit at SFS was a perfect match for this challenge.

thanks for taking a peek at my blog, cheers. :)

Paper Stories Kit

Here are some pages I did a couple of weekends ago, at a
scrappy weekend away.
I used the Basic Grey 'clippings range which is in this Paper Stories kit.
Love this range of papers and the gorgeous badges in the kit!
I added some bits and bobs from my own stash too.

For the August challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge
to scrap about a childhood pet.

I did this one next one really quickly in the last hour or so of the retreat.
You know that feeling when you're on a scrappy retreat and Sunday morning rolls around and
you can see the end of your scrappy paradise is about to arrive, you still have so much
you want to achieve or you just don't want the good times to end.
haha or maybe it's just me?
Anyway it was put together very quickly by my standards but
I think these papers with it's layers already done for you... well it definitely helped.

This one is for the sketch challenge at Scrapbooking from scratch

Cheers and thanks for popping by and thank you for your kind comments. :)

Show Us Your Stuff August

Sample for August.

Using some Bo Bunny 'Mamarazzi' papers I've had in the stash for-
well since it was released! It was one of those must haves that ended up sitting unloved
in the stash for a couple of years.
But I've revived it with some distress inks and stencils and then using a white Gel pen to outline
various parts of the flowers.
I love the look of white on Kraft!

A little about my photo's- my daughter has taken to covering her face whenever the camera
points in her direction.  I hope it doesn't persist for too long or I shall run out of photo's,
err, no I don't think that will ever happen but still!!

This is the prompt you can use in any way you wish to create
a layout.  Remember to include a handmade item on your layout

The 'no photos please' title is 2crafty Chipboard which I
gave a treatment of paint daubers (love those things so easy to use).
Red first then the blue and yellow to give a mottled effect.
And then the Gel pen again to outline. I think it really makes the title stand out a lot.

Thanks for looking, hope you can join in the challenge this month at Show Us Your Stuff.
Enjoy your week, cheers. :)

Scrap The Girls - August

New Creative team members have been announced on the STG blog.
There are some fabulously talented new faces there and I'm extremely happy to
be joining them for another term.

Head over here to see who the Creative team are for the next 6 months.
The August challenge is stars.

Do you ever get to a stage in creating a layout where you say to yourself
'yeah this looks pretty good I'm happy with this, I'll just spray a little more here, and maybe some
paint or doodling here'
Next thing I know the layout looks completely different!
I have this conversation with myself all the time.
I wish I knew when to stop sometimes!

This happened when I was doing this layout!
I created what I thought was a pretty good background, see the green areas inside
the white outlined stars. Well that's what the whole background was like, til I thought I
would mask the chipboard stars - from 2Crafty with some
white mist! Well it changed the whole look of the layout, so I felt I had to add the
blue stencilled stars, then I needed the red stars to... etc, etc
Hey I'm happy with the way it looks now but I also really liked what was underneath it too!
haha! Sounds crazy I know.

Ok that's enough from me hope you made it this far.
And make sure you put this challenge on your list
-Scrap the girl/s in your life and use stars. Easy!
cheers. :)

Kraft It Up - August

My first creative team layout for Kraft It Up!
August's challenge is a sketch.
Here's my sample.

Trying to get Christmas Photo's with four kids, no explanation required!

This is the August Sketch you get to create with, isn't it awesome!?

I actually partially made this background months ago,
not knowing what photo's I would eventually use but I had the modelling paste
left over from another project and not wanting to waste it
I grabbed a piece of Kraft cardstock and the Crafters Workshop stencil and just
applied the paste randomly and set it aside to use on a project at a latter date.
Well this was it!
In some of the photo's the kids were standing in front of a brick wall
so it suited it perfectly.
So all I did when I came to do this layout was apply some texture stamps and
Mister Hueys calico white mist. And my Background was done!

I made a little Washi tape banner, cute!

Thanks for looking, make sure you check out the other CT layouts on the KIU blog.
Cheers.
